GLOBAL GREEN USA
Our mission is to foster a global value shift in the transition to a just, sustainable and secure future, by reconnecting humanity with the environment. We bring holistic sustainable solutions for people, places and a planetary future.
Global Green USA is a non-profit organization established in 1994 by Diane Meyer Simon, and headquartered in Los Angeles. For 25 years, Global Green USA has been a national leader in advancing smart solutions to address climate change, and environmental protection.
We create transformative model projects and advance new policies that build sustainable and resilient communities and affordable housing. We help local governments, schools, and public agencies integrate sustainable design, clean energy, and water reduction measures. Our goal is to improve lives, protect environmental health and the Earth’s natural systems.
Global Green USA is on a calling to lead a global response to keep humanity within planetary boundaries. Our legacy includes working for the elimination of weapons of mass destruction that threaten lives and the environment, and to provide communities with clean and safe drinking water. We work with empowering people through education for sustainable development.
We work in alignment of the holistic international frameworks of the Earth Charter Declaration, the UN the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, and Net Zero commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Global Green USA is a national organization of Green Cross International founded by Nobel Peace Laurette Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993, to promote global cooperation for environmental security. It is a non-political, non-religious and non-governmental organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. We work holistically through the Green Cross International program pillars: I. Water for Life and Peace, II. Environmental Security and Sustainability, III. Social and Medical Care Health, IV. Smart Energy and Climate, V. Value Change, VI. Reforestation.
Our global mission is to respond to the combined challenges of security, poverty and environmental degradation to ensure a sustainable future. We seek solutions through dialogue, mediation and co-operation. We work to change legal, ethical and behavioral standards in governments, the private sector and civil society.
GLOBAL GREEN IMPACT
GREEN INITIATIVES CHANGING THE WORLD
With our focus on people and the planet in mind, Global Green has raised significant funds and enacted real
change throughout the world.
Global Green USA works within Green Cross International’s holistically integrated programs pillars
We advocate for transboundary water cooperation through international legal frameworks, and provide access to safe drinking water and sanitation to vulnerable communities worldwide (Water for Peace, Smart Water for Green Schools, UN Watercourses Convention, Right to Water).
We work to minimize the effect of hazardous chemical substances on communities and the environment (Nonproliferation, arms control, disarmament, weapons demilitarization pollution reduction, toxic waste cleanup, environmental emergencies preparedness).
We address public health issues from radiation damage caused by exposure to radioactive and chemical contamination (Supporting people affected by disasters in Fukushima and Chernobyl, Agent Orange in South East Asia).
Responding to the global climate crisis began early on in our legacy work with the Climate Change Task Force, working through Renewable Energy, Biomass projects, and Green Building.
We work holistically to promote a paradigm shift in human values and ethics, as well as in our relationship with the Earth and natural world, by way of: The Earth Charter Declaration, Earth Dialogues forums, Environmental Education for Sustainable Development.
Our aim is help degraded forest areas on the planet recover their natural state and re-establish their original eco-systems by way of tree planting of native species. Holistic reforestation is vital to preserving biodiversity and fighting climate change.
"Ultimately ‘living green’ is really about sustainable solutions for people’s problems – affordable housing, better water, sustainable land that can produce food. So, although the mission of my first endeavor was to protect the earth, in effect it also advanced the quality of peoples lives."
– Diane Meyer Simon
