GLOBAL GREEN COMMUNITY ENVISIONED FOR CITIES ACROSS THE US

The Global Green Community project in New Orleans will serve as a pilot for underserved communities in need in cities all over in the United States. We will start work in the 28 cities where we have conducted our Sustainable Neighborhood Solutions program (from 2012 to 2016), with a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency.

A Global Green Community is inspired by the declaration of the Earth Charter, which are guidelines with fundamental principles for building a just, peaceful and sustainable global society. We also aim to align with the

United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, a universal call to action to end poverty and protect the planet. The construction protocol is guided by the global frameworks of Net Zero, meaning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and the LEED certification systems for sustainable building practices.

Building on our groundwork and vision for a sustainable planetary future, the revitalization of the Lower 9th Ward will mark the startup of Global Green Communities across the across the US.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

Environmental injustice is today a planet-wide problem. Underserved communities of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) are most vulnerable to climate change, as they suffer the greatest ecological apartheid and injustice. These communities are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Bringing forth environmental justice and sustainable solutions for underserved BIPOC communities is the goal of the Global Green Community.
